Tips for making the most of business travel to Leeds

Book early and confirm your requirements

Leeds is a popular city for both national and international events, especially during the academic year and festival seasons. To secure the right Conference Venues in Leeds for your dates – alongside the best hotels and restaurants – book as early as possible. Make a clear list of requirements: delegate capacity, catering needs, AV technology, accessibility, and hybrid meeting options.

If you’re unfamiliar with the venues, arrange site visits or, at minimum, request detailed floorplans and service overviews. Our team at Weetwood Hall is happy to offer advice or help negotiate local services on your behalf.

Consider location for delegate convenience

Think through your delegates’ journeys. Are most travelling by rail, road, or air? Venues close to Leeds Station or major motorways naturally ease logistics for everyone, minimising stress and late arrivals. Locations such as The Queens Hotel Leeds or DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds City Centre excel for city-centre access.

On the other hand, options like Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort or Weetwood Hall provide respite from the city centre – suited for longer or more immersive retreats.

Allow time for both work and Yorkshire exploration

One of the advantages of hosting events in Leeds is the city’s welcoming cultural scene. Encourage attendees to experience more than just the venue. Famous galleries such as the Leeds Art Gallery or Henry Moore Institute, the independent shops of the Victoria Quarter, and the Michelin-guide restaurants near Greek Street all offer rewarding downtime.

If your colleagues appreciate green spaces, Golden Acre Park and Roundhay Park are refreshing pre- or post-meeting options. For the historically minded, the arcades and Kirkgate Market offer a taste of Leeds’ trading heritage, while Headingley’s independent cafés are ideal for informal catch-ups.

Factor in hybrid working needs

As flexible work is now the norm for many teams, prioritising venues with the latest conferencing technology and high-speed connectivity is essential. Spaces like The Terrace, Wellington Place and modern Hotels in Leeds make it simple to connect remote and in-person delegates seamlessly.

Ask local experts for tailored recommendations

Each event comes with its own nuances. If your plans change or you need bespoke advice, reach out to your chosen venues – or to us at Weetwood Hall. We know the local area and can suggest trusted suppliers for everything from event design to team-building experiences.

Best Hotel I have stayed at in Leeds!

I have been staying in Leeds for over 20 years and have tried a huge cross section including all of the major chain hotels. This week I tried the 4 star Weetwood. Having had two daughters at Leeds University over the last 10 years visits to Leeds, both on business and for family have been many.

I booked directly with the hotel which was quick and simple. On arriving at the hotel there was ample and free parking(not the case with a lot of Leeds hotels) Check-in was quick and simple and I had been selected as “Guest of the Day” this meant a free upgrade to a superior room, a welcome note in the room, a large bowl of fruit, and a Pod coffee making machine.

Room was excellent and very spacious, bathroom modern warm and dry. We decided to eat in the restaurant. As guest of the day we were given our first drink with compliments of the house.

Dinner was excellent with complimentary breads and water. Excellent, food, service, ambiance. Breakfast was equally as good with an extensive choice of fresh fruits, pastries eggs cooked to order you could not fault it.

I can’t believe I have spent so many nights in Leeds and not stayed at the Weetwood! Mid range price for a luxury hotel in Leeds.
